Miami Dragon Boat



Originating in southern central China more than 2,500 years ago, dragon boat racing was an annual festival to celebrate the Chinese water dragon and to celebrate the summer rice planting. This festival brought people together from all parts of the community to paddle, eat, and be merry.

Today the Dragon boat festival is still being practiced as a festival to foster unity and community camaraderie. In Miami, FL the United Chinese Association of Florida is inviting everyone of every ethnicity to attend and share their culture at the dragon boat festival. This event is not just limited to Chinese culture. There will be Thai dances, Vietnamese cooking, Polynesian drumming and much, much more. Join in the race with your team or join in the fun with the many other activities such as the Egg Roll Eating Contest.

Watch the live dragon boat races as teams from around the U.S. complete for glory and fame. Enjoy good food under the shade and a cool breeze. Learn about the diverse peoples of Miami and have fun with friends and family.
