Zongzi - Festival Food






Zongzi (Rice Dumplings in Bamboo Leaves) 粽子 (zòng zi).

A traditional festive food eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival. Its is a traditional Chinese food, made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. They are cooked by steaming or boiling. They are known in Japanese as chimaki. Laotians, Thais, and Cambodians known it as Nom Asom. In Spanish they are also known as tamales chinos.
